Cautious optimism

Since the beginning of 2024 we have had a steady stream of vendors asking for Market Appraisals on their properties.

The market appears to have stabilised at last at a more normal level.

Tim BannisterRightmove's director for property science, reflects that "There continue to be reasons for cautious optimism as we settle into 2024, with encouraging activity levels and a more stable housing market.

Mortgage rates have fallen considerably from their peak, and are now remaining broadly level after all of the uncertainty of last year. They are not expected to change much over the next few months.

The Budget statement is just 2 weeks away and speculation is mounting over what tax and spend-related policies might be changed to support the housing market. However, it seems unlikely that there will be any major changes this time round.

Easter is the traditional time for putting your property on the market, so to arrange for a free, no obligation valuation, please call Amanda or Sam on 01684 575100 or Mel or James on 01905 26664.
